There is never a shortage of cultural attractions and things-to-do in Austin. Move aside, Houston and Dallas- Austin is one of the most fun and most interesting places in Texas!
You'll want to visit the Texas state capitol. At one time, it was the tallest capitol building in the nation. Others might be taller now, but this is still a beautiful building that shows off many of the natural resources which are so prevalent in Texas, such as limestone and the landscapes. While you're in the area, be sure to stop by the Bullock Texas State History Museum. This fascinating and educational museum chronicles the history of Texas with three themed exhibits: Land, Identity, and Opportunity.
Maybe you're not in a museum or learning mood. There is so much to do, well beyond educational places. Have some fun at the zoo! You can see hundreds of animals, with more than 100 species on display. The nonprofit Austin Zoo doesn't offer the typical zoo experience, because it is actually a rescue zoo that lets visitors see animals who have been rehoused from other zoos or seized due to animal cruelty.
If you're looking for some nighttime fun, Austin offers that as well. Take the Haunted Austin Walking History Tour! You can experience the ghastly tales of Austin on this storyteller-led haunted walking tour. You will stop at haunted attractions, including the Driskill Hotel, and hear about how Austin has developed over the decades. Afterwards, don't forget to fit in the Austin Famous Ghost and Bat Segway Tour. This nighttime ride through downtown visits haunted landmarks and the world’s largest urban bat colony.
Austin has lovely weather, so you'll want to spend as much time outdoors as possible. Lady Bird Lake Hike-and-Bike Trail offers you a scenic trail through lush green parks and peaceful lakes. It is a great place to bike, hike, and run. If you prefer, sit on a bench and people watch! Another great way to spend the afternoon and get some exercise in the fresh air is by visiting Mount Bonnell. This is a beautiful park looming almost 800 feet over Austin, so it is a great place to see the full cityscape.
You now have plenty of options to fill your itinerary for your trip to Austin. You may be looking at this list with a bit of concern, though. Visiting the state capitol building? Walking around at night? Is any of that safe right now? You are right to keep safety as a focus. If you're concerned, know that you can hire a temporary bodyguard in Austin just for the duration of your time here. Bodyguards in Austin, TX can be plain clothed and walk around with you simply as a deterrent for someone else who may have harm in their mind. If you're a well-known person and think you need something more, you can have armed guards in suits too. When it comes to getting a bodyguard in Austin, there is one to meet every need. Go ahead and book your trip, plan your fun days, and enjoy the city without worry!
